Nice, I like the door panels of the standard coupe better then the d'elegance. Either way, it would be pretty cool to see this time capsule in person.

Awesome car! Somehow I missed this thread. I didn't even know Rodgers Cadillac had closed - I live in Chattanooga, my parents live in Morristown, about 45 mi east of downtown Knoxville. I also have a '79 CDV (actually 2), it would be really fun to meet up somewhere & snap some pictures one of the times I'm up visiting. Are you still in the Knoxville area?

It's really too bad you couldn't find the original whitewall width, they're a bit scarce, but would really matter if you were to show the car. And, at least to me, it makes a big impact on how the car looks. The ones you have now are around .75", the originals were a little under 1.5". Still lovely, though. A word of warning, if you do later decide to return to factory correct, do not buy a tire named "American Classics", the whitewall is too far out on the tire, and really looks, just... awful. People buy them thinking they are correct for these cars, only to be greatly disappointed once they're installed. They are cheaply made with an incorrect whitewall because the company was too cheap to re-engineer the tire instead of just hacking away at their wider whitewall.

There's still a few of these low-mileage Coupe Devilles around. There's a member on here (HighwayStar) who has a light blue '79 with extremely low miles (which he very much enjoys driving occasionally), and there was a '79 Phaeton like mine on Ebay a few months back with something like 1,200 original miles.

Keep us up to date on this beautiful car!

    -Ben

You can get 'correct' width whitewalls ... you can specify where on the sidewall you want the white wall and how wide it is to be, down to the 1/10th of an inch ... you get them from Diamond Back Tires ...
