    I then filled it with epoxy putty and sanded it down. Then painted it and cut and put in wood insert, stained and polyurethane then chrome pinstripe tape. I need to redo the stripe tape to get it straighter, then I plan to cover with the two part epoxy they use to cover coins on bar tops!

    I have just enough OCD that I actually enjoyed it and will one day pull another one at the yard and try to improve upon my method.

    I need to do this on my 87's wheel. the "wood" part is breaking off in places

    The best fix for the cracked wheels is to swap them out for the leather version. They feel so much nicer.
