This is my first time seeing the thread. I know you are not the original owner, and probably did not do most of the work. But I have to tell you whoever did the work on that car is a hack. Placing that PCM like that exposed is disgraceful. That air filter setup is not a thing of beauty either.

GM placed the PCM where it did for protection of both the wires and the PCM. Now they are exposed with the wires bent back. The wires going to the PCM are very small gauge and if exposed to damage, could break. You need to put it back to it's stock location as pictured by "turbojimmy", complete with that plastic protective plate that goes over it.

(Back to your problem), I would check the grounds, on the front of the head, driver's side by the coil. They are brittle and break easy. Also, forget about any "chip" at Autozone. That's bogus.

    Good Luck

    Tom C.

Yea I agree. But a few things you don't know are that the air intake used to bend and go down all the way to in front of the left tire. It was not a great idea however when it rained. I would suck water so I moved it up and pieced together the intake tube . It was all chrome and nice looking. As for the placement of the computer, I will try to do something with it. I don't have the plastic cover it originally had. I will figure something out. The guy I bought it from is a great offroad vehicle builder, and used to hacking stuff. The caddy was just a fun car he was building. He used to have a much bigger motor in it than the 5.7 but he wrecked it. He didn't intend on using it as an everyday driver like I'm using it for. All in all, it runs great, just has that idling issue , but I'll figure it out.
