    condenser leak on 94 fwn?

hi guys. My ac is not working so i charged it up. When i shut the car off i can hear hissing between the radiator and the condenser? does the condenser develope leaks without being damaged? Being aluminum i thought they wouldn't wear out from just normal use. Tomorrow i'll get some leak detector and cheak for the leak.
    thanks in advance

The hissing is the high and low sides equalizing through the orifice valve after you shut the compressor off. It's normal.

thanks turbojimmy. the hissing contined for at least a half hour after i shut the car off. and now the compressor is off. would the equalizing last a half hour to 45 minutes after the car shutoff?

No. It should only hiss for a few seconds. You have a leak :-)

would the aluminum condenser itself develope a leak or is it usually an o=ring failure. thanks

The condenser shouldn't leak unless it's damaged. Check the fittings carefully over by the radiator - it could be an o-ring. It would be odd, though, for it to suddenly spring a leak unless it was messed with.
