1989 Brougham AC compressor ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF cycling

    Hi All!
A friend of mine has brought his AC system "back to life". He replaced a lot of things, let the compressor and other things rebuilt, and installed. Pressure is OK in the system, no loss. But now (mainly when idling, but not only at idle) very often he has the following symptom: the AC compressor switches on for about 1 sec then switches on for about 1 sec and this goes on and on...
I couldn't find anything in the Shop Manual for this condition. Anyone has some experience with this kind of problem?
    Thanks!

If you mean "off then on" and you know for sure its full of freon, I would suspect compressor clutch to coil gap is too wide. When its too wide, voltage alone cannt hold it engaged. The gap is adjusted by shims added or taken off the compressor shaft.

The charge is low. It is that simple.
