    Great. I aprreciate the help. I purchased a new lock striker for my 76 on rockauto. I am going to see if I can move the mechanism in the door and see if that helps.

    no problem, finding the problem's half the battle.
    If worse comes to worse, you can probably glue a little bit of leather that'll fit on the striker as a last resort.

    So last night I fooled around with the lock pin. I was able to move it inwards. Although I did not drive the car, pushing the door from the ouside already shows it is tightened. The pin is the furthest inward it will go, so let's hope that works! I'll have it out over the weekend...
