1905 chain drive Cadillac Touring Car at LCBC Church Car Show

I was at the LCBC Church car show in Manheim, PA on Saturday and saw a 1905 Cadillac Touring car. The owner drove it to and from the show. Chain drive?? Thought I would post some pictures of it.

Wow what a beautiful original example. Thank's for sharing. Very interesting. Also very interesting...the cod piece you are wearing in this photo!

Ha ha, didn't notice that until you pointed that out. Also looks like I only have one leg. Better proof my pictures in the future.

Beautiful original example. Looks as if it could do the London - Brighton rally with no trouble at all. Do you know if the owners are of the Hershey Chocolate family?

    Cheers........R.

Did not talk to the owner, so I am not sure about how many speeds or how it starts. The guage in the center was a clock and the one on the lower right was a speedometer.

I know the owner was a local resident and no relation to the Hershey Chocolate family.

I bet they get sick if that question. I just assumed that too. I think I would move as far away from PA as possible if that were my last name.

Could be worse...think about the totally average, normal families who have last names like Hitler or Dahmer and then these maniacs come along and bam, you're suddenly perceived to be connected to a madman. At least Hershey is associated with something delicious!

It would be cool, however, if the car turned out to have been OWNED by one of the chocolate Hersheys back when it was new.

I feel kind of bad that I don't have any affinity for this car...this has been discussed before, but if you weren't around to remember the cars when they were at least kind of new, or still common on the road, it's not something that's necessarily going to appeal to you. I'd much rather have a pristine 1988 Dodge Aries K (my first car) over the 1905 Cadillac, even if the Cadillac is more valuable or rare.

On the TV show "American Pickers" I just seen those headlamps, or close to those old type. the guys looked at some for sale, or maybe bought one like that. From the 1900's early. They said that those type old brass headlamps worked on fuel or oil and had to be lit before going for a ride. really neat...

Saw them too. Always knew they were gas to be lit, what I found interesting was the fact that the gas was made by putting in pellets and letting water drip on them slowly!
