installing power steering pump pulley on HT-4100

I just bought a new power steering pump and new power steering pump pulley, so no rust or other buildup. This is the press on type pulley that requires a bolt, nut, and washer to put it place. I put anti-seize on the pump shaft. I have a ~9 inch long crescent wrench that I'm using to tighten the nut that pushes the pulley. I'm using most of my strength to turn the nut and I believe I have streched the bolt slightly, but the pulley is still almost 1/2 inch from being all the way on.
Does it typically take this much force to put it in?

I had used a little heat to try and help it on

It usually doesnt take that much pressure but I suppose some will. I've never had any that took more then some elbow grease to put it on. I have stripped a couple bolts before, though.

How about putting the pulley in the oven at a low heat for a couple of hours, then putting it on with an impact?

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure how to execute it. Since there's a bolt threaded into the pump shaft, I'm not sure how to get an impact on the nut.

A good hardned washer applies pressure evenly. Maybe something is a bit off.

    Hi,

I need to reinstall the steering pump pulley. The bolt that came with the pulley remover does not fit the shaft. Do you know what size the bolt is?

Perhaps it's the wrong pulley remover? I've returned the one I borrowed so I can't help you. But I did discover that there is are more then one design styles for the plate you used to install the pulley. One (the one I had) is just the plate that presses up, this means there is lots of friction between the pulley and the nut. The second style has a bearing between the pulley and the nut and it's much easier/nicer to use.
I never did get the pulley all the way on the pump shaft, but it hasn't given me any problems with wearing or throwing belts.
