    oil leak from back of block

    is there anywhere oil can leak from besides the rear main or the valve covers on a 79 425?

    Those would be the most likely causes. The oil pan gasket could also be bad or there might be a crack in the block.

    I'm with Jay on this one .. My bet is the oil pressure sender.. Its at the very back of the block , just a little to the drivers side of center.. It has one wire going to it..

    well mine has a sender that has three spaids on it. and my truck has just one wire for the guage but no matter witch one i put it on the guage ether pegs out or dose nothing. and i have a mechanical but cant get the factory one out.

    ok, its not the valve covers and its not the sender, i think... lol resealed them as best i could. pans getting sealed this week i think. hope that stops it

    Did you feel the back of the intake where it meets the block?
