    Question Calling all opinions

So I want a Fleetwood and I feel as though I have two paths I can take.

    One like this: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

    Or one like this: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...542556060.html

I am fairly competent behind the wrench but I'm getting older and lazier than I used to be so I'd just pay someone to do most of my wrenching now a days.

My end goal is a smooth running Fleetwood that that I can put 35,000 miles on over the next three years with minimal outlay of cash. Do I spend more money up front for a low milage one or will a 100k car have plenty of reliability left in her?

    Any Opinions?

    Re: Calling all opinions

these cars will go on for well over 200,000 miles...as long as it was well maintained.

I would not hesitate to buy the white 95 with 107k miles as long as it runs and drives good and is clean inside and out.

Price on the 96 seems high to me. Low miles are great, but that's still a lot of money for a car that is (about) 15 years old.

    Re: Calling all opinions

I've only owned 2 thus far: a '96 and a '94. The '96 had 90k on it when I got it, the '94 had 83k. Both needed brakes, shocks and tires. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the 107k mile car as long as the owner has kept up with maintenance.

If you're going to leave the car 100% stock, then there's not much difference between the '94-95 and the '96. But,if I were buying another one, I'd be looking for a '96. I like the OBD-II and the simpler radio setup. I have no idea what they were thinking on the '94-95 with the rear-mounted "radio receiver". Seems unnecessarily complex. All I can think of was that due to the shallow mounting depth, they had to put the "guts" of the radio in the rear of the car. The thing that's mounted in the dash that looks like a radio is just a "radio control". In '96, they finally figured out how to put a true head unit in the dash, which greatly simplifies the installation of an aftermarket radio.

I like the '96 side mirrors better, and the trunk lid crest. And I just liked the idea of owning the last model year.

My '94 just happened to have the rare limo setup I was looking for, otherwise I'd still have my '96.

I always prefer black color over white color . Our biggest maintenance so far was water pump ,distributor , spark plugs , spark plug wires . The car is around 35K miles . We also had to replace PCV hose . These are majestic cars I love them

Thanks to all. I do think the Black one is a little over priced. I think if i can get him down a grand or so that it may be more realistic.

You can talk anyone down on anything. My collection proves it.

Just be firm with your price and point out that it's cash-in-hand (Not sure why that works, since most people selling their used cars do not take personal cheques, but go figure)

I really like the Black 96. The KBB says it worth about $6,685. I would defiantly talk him down a bit.

I vote black as well. It's pretty well a one owner car and looks to have been well cared for. The owner will know the history of the car from 4000 odd miles upwards.

    Cheers.......R.

I`d go for the black Fleet,Rick----if you can afford it.Seems to be better maintained and cared for.
You can talk down the price some.
I had to sell my 2005 Ford Taurus 2 years ago for money to live on.I bought my 1978 mint Sedan Deville with some of the cash from the Taurus.
Everybody inflates the selling price of cars to make the buyer think they are getting a deal anyway.
