    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-...#ht_562wt_1165

It's the year I want, the colors I want in and out (actually only ever seen the light green interior in brocade, never leather), low mileage, recent work done, and only 4 and a half hours away. I know it'd need a complete repaint (and I know what it'd cost), I'd probably put a black roof on it, but the interior and chrome looks great. I'd drive it as is for now. The bids only went up to ~$3,000 last time it was on ebay, I can probably get it nice and cheap. What to do, what to do....

dont buy it...it gets bad mileage. (did that talk you out of it? lol)

only issue I see that could be a problem is the vinyl top. it appears to have some rust under the top below the back window.

Yeah I noticed the bubbling, but I'm drooling over the car even as it sits. I've been looking for one for YEARS, that color (especially the interior) just doesn't pop up that often. My thinking is I could keep waiting for a nice original or restored one to pop up, but that could take years and move into 5 digits, or get this one, enjoy it as is, and restore it at my own pace. Plus, if some kid gets it for next to nothing, the poor thing will end up candy purple, with ostrich interior and 28" rims on it.

Only 2 days left and maybe for $ 2,500 could be yours. Interior seems mint. That uses to be the worst part to restore. Just figure out how much would cost a new vynil + paint job. That added to the purchase price should be no more than $10,000 if you consider the car as an investment, but for a caddy lover itīs difficult talking about investments. You should check everything else is as ad says. The good part of it is that you could paint and get new vinyl when you had money enough, as itīs not urgent to start enjoying the car for the rest of the summer.

If I was on your shoes, I would go and check it Very important checking rust in low fenders, floor and trunk panel. That would increase noticeably restoring cost unless you make it by yourself.

Everybody has a different opinion of "MINT" apparently. I like the colors too, contact the seller directly and see if you can make a deal. You never know - you might get lucky!

In that color, it does look minty fresh:

But for some reason, I really like the looks of the 71-72 DeVille. Worth checking out.

Nice looking car. Take a magnet with you when you go inspect it before you bid. Check the lower fenders and rocker panels. Pay special attention to the rear wheel wells, and especially the trunk and floor pans. Make sure you check carefully under the rocker trim, as rust likes to build up there. If you decide to buy, go in knowing you will be doing more bodywork than you thought you would. That backlight channel is likely toast.

That's my favorite color on that generation, but with the white top, it does sort of reminds me of mint ice cream. I'd definitely put a black top on it. But hey, you guys are supposed to be talking me out of it. LOL. I have room for it, It wouldn't just sit, I'd definitely drive it as is and enjoy it. I guess what's in the back of my mind is "what if a beautiful original should come along after I buy". I don't know what to do!

What if the sky falls tomorrow and you don't get to enjoy either this car you found or any other one that may or may not come along. Put yourself out there...enjoy life with the toys you want in your sandbox...if another dream car comes along, and you're strong, you'll figure out a way to do whatever it takes to make it happen. Cancel the "what if," focus on the "just do it!" Good luck!

Re: '71 Sedan Deville, I think someone needs to talk me out of it.

The main thing (IMHO) "mint" about that car is the color.....to be fair the leather seats look very good..

I realise it's the other side of the country and I'm not suggesting a cross country jaunt to obtain it but isn't this car nicer looking , in better nick with no reserve and the same desirable color?

Re: '71 Sedan Deville, I think someone needs to talk me out of it.

The '72 on ebay is the wrong colors, and if i were to buy a coupe it'd have to be triple black. Also, i prefer '71 to '72 or '73. '72 had bumper rub strips that I'm not fond of, and '73 got the big, square "government" bumpers. I'm not picky or anything LOL

It looks like a nice straight car, go for it--you only live once!

I'm not much help on this type of question. I have to observe that coming to this board to get talked out of buying another RWD Cadillac is like asking Charlie Sheen to help you give up booze, drugs and hookers.
