if it's carb'ed like my 87...fuel filter is located in the fuel inlet on the front of the carb. you need 2 wrenches to get it off.

You need use two wrenches so the fuel line does not twist. When you get it off, the filer is spring loaded and will pop out. You need to make sure you get the spring in right or the new filter will not fit correctly (the replacement is a little longer than the original).

It's in the carberator at the end of the fuel line. The part the line goes into screws out. Put the new filter and parts back in the same way the old ones came out.

just look at the front of the carb. follow the fuel line till it enters the carb and where it screws into the carb is where the fuel filter is. you need to wrenches like everyone else said and you should put a couple rags down cause your going to spill fuel!!! pretty easy takes like 10 min unless your line is seized onto the carb.

Re: 1989 cadillac Brougham fuel filter

the point behind using two wrenches is so the fuel line doesn't turn to prevent it from "knotting up"

you put one wrench on the fuel line and one on the large inlet nut. I unscrew the line from the inlet nut first to free it up. You will probably have a little bit of gas come out of it, but only wahtever was left in the end of the line.

After that, you take off the large inlet nut and inside that inlet nut is your fuel filter.

If it isn't restricted and didn't split you should be ok. you may want to spray the nuts down with some WD40 or simliar if they are hard to turn.
