Re: The official PARTS FOR SALE/WANTED thread!

    Hello everyone!

I'm the new owner of a 1991 Cadillac Brougham with the d'Elegance package and the towing package. The 5.7L engine has about 142K miles on it, and it's a fun car to drive. I'm wondering if any of you can help me with a few odd items I'm looking for?

Factory radio w/ cassette (or CD) - My cassette player works when it's warm and when it wants to. The CD player would be great, but they are hard to find and pricey.

Overhead map light console - My tan one looks fine, but the lights do not work. It looks like the bulbs are fine, but the lights do not 'click' on and off when pressed.

Antenna - mine goes up and down when coaxed, but when it's down, it keeps running, so I've unplugged it.

Door lock knobs - two are fine, one is broken, and one is a cheap generic replacement.

    Factory demonstration cassette.

Hood ornament - the base is intact on the car.

Driver's side sun visor - tan.

Good rear bumper - the chrome is not good on mine.

Thanks, everyone, for the help! My car has the tan interior and the outer color is Antelope.

    Ron

for the overhead map lights, have you checked the ground? if you unscrew the 1 screw and remove it from the ceiling (it just sorta falls down) you will see a wire with a metal loop on the end. make sure this goes around the screw, else your lights will not work or may work intermittently.
by door lock knobs, I guess you mean the ones that are on the top of the interior door panel (chrome cylinders). ones from any 70's- early 90's GM cars with those will work. pay a trip to your local junkyard and pick up a few.
antenna- either buy a new one at the auto parts store, or go to a junkyard with a battery, and try to get one to power up and down. power antennas from any rwd 77-92 gm car will work.

Decided to part out 1996 Fleetwood Brougham. Navy blue exterior, gray leather. Upstate NY car that was just on the edge of being rough with 150k. Would need too much TLC to make it worth more as a complete car then it is as parts. PM if your looking for anything. Drivers seat shot, but passenger is mint and heated seat even works!

Hi! Looking for a reasonably inexpensive pedestal hood ornament (i call it my "gunsight") for my 1987 Brougham D'elegance RWD. Anyone have one, willing to ship? I've tried e-Bay etc, and I can't be sure of the base. Most people have no idea how to take decent pictures! Thanks for the help!

I don't know what you mean by pedestal, but I do have the one that was factory original for your car.

Thanks for the tip about the ground for the overhead map lights. I will check this when I get a replacement set of lights. The ones I have should 'click' on and off when pressed, but mine do not. One clicks when it wants to, and the other never does.

I have not found any scrap yards with Cadillacs like mine in this area.

The door lock knobs for my car are specific to the Cadillac, with the Cadillac crest molded in the top. I have four door lock knobs, but I am looking to replace the two that are not correct for my car.

Ron, that sounds like the ground is disconnected. remove the 1 screw in the map light console. as you lower it down, look to see if there is a wire (mine is green) with a metal loop on the end around the mounting screw.

The center trim for the hood was not available in '77-'79. The only trim that would work is on '80's de Ville RWDs.

The belt line trim was a rare option on those. They might have used same trim pieces for '80's Sedans (you would need to measure your doors and hood). The section on the rear quarter panel would be hardest to find, but you could probably fabricate them from any straight length of trim.

    Here's an example:

    lacville78 and lacville78 like this.
