Re: 1984 Coupe DeVille Engine Swap!

Exciting news! I might be able to bring the DeVille to the engines class at my college and we'd wire it and fire it up there. It would be nice to have one of the teachers who know what they are doing keeping watch on the engine break-in. Sorry for no updates lately guys. Crashing the Cavalier and having to buy another car AND paying for classes has wreaked my budget for the Caddy. I need to final-bolt everything in and I'll steal some wiring from the Brougham before it goes to the scrapyard and see what happens. Thanks for the push guys!

Don't forget the proper break in additive. GM EOS, Lucas break in, etc.

I've actually been using bread in place of engine oil for the past few months, gave me about 400 extra HP.

What ever you do, do not use Wonder Bread! multi-grain all the way..the Wonder Bread breaks down too fast and you have to change the bread sooner.

I've found pumpernickel to be the most effective engine bread additive.

My car actually prefers sweetbread But that gets expensive, so I stick with this bread.

Re: 1984 Coupe DeVille Engine Swap!

^Well Chamus, I actually "got some stuff done." I swear!

Got the mounts back from my welder friend. He cut the bottom off of them and extended the mounts down. Then he drilled pilot holes in them and gave me the metal rod as seen in the pictures. I can put that through the holes in the mounts and see if they go through the holes in the frame pads.

I got the mounts bolted to the engine after a quick trip to the local hardware store to replace a missing bolt. They popped right over the frame pads after some very slight persuasion from my pry bar.

After that I climbed under the car with my sharpie and marked the mounts where they need to be bored out. Once bored I can put my bolts through them and the engine will finally be bolted to the rest of the car!

Thought you guys might have wanted to see the remains of the once mighty HT41-Ok, I couldn't do that with a straight face!

Thanks for being so patient with this thread, guys. Things seem to be picking up again so it shouldn't be so long between updates. Feels good to be working on the car again!
