Three-angle valve job, new springs and a few other mods suggested by Marty at MTS. I wish I had taken pics of the heads before they went on - it was like looking at a work of art.

We'll be doing a more thorough paint job than what was laid on back in the day.

My 500 engine is now seated in the '79. Would have pics, but forgot to take the camera this time.

Freshly worked-over Q-Jet arrived from The Carb Shop today. The Stage Two rebuild was done with regard to the #5 MTS cam's specs.

We may be ready to roll within a week or so.

    And we're in!

It's crazy, but I'm probably as thrilled with my radiator as anything. NOS unit off the shelf at a local shop.

Startup is imminent. The cam break-in will likely be the longest 20 minutes of my life!

Make sure you are using a proper HIGH ZDDP break in oil!

Yep, with GM E.O.S. thrown in for good measure.

I'm getting a nice labor rate by doing some work myself, and having the head tech only work on the car when business allows, thus resulting in the wait. Could start her today, but surely by Saturday.

Good plan. I was on my way to pick up a case of EOS and I found that I could order this from my parts place, so I am giving it a try. Each bottle is enough for four oil changes.

Down with the catalytic converters, long live the zinc!

I'll be running ZDDP-heavy Valvoline VR-1 Racing 10w-30 once she hits the street. I can buy it by the case from my local Ashland distributor cheaper than I can buy the supplements.
