That is one plain-Jane DeVille, and I mean that in the best way possible. I wonder why the original owner didn't just buy a Buick or something.. I like it though, it's rare to see one like this. What color is the interior?

Wow, that looks great with the metal roof. Was it an option to have the metal roof, or was that standard?

Metal roof was standard on the Sedan and Coupe Deville, although most people shelled out the extra $$$ for a padded vinyl top.

I think it's plain (and in the case of this car, emphasis on PLAIN), to see why the original owner didn't buy a Buick: they wanted a Cadillac!

I love the look of that SDV. The white paint is really great... this car is going to be a total sleeper. Looks like a blue interior?

You have a very attractive car. I love the metal roof, very distinctive. I'm glad you're putting that 500 from your old Coupe into this car. Have fun with the project!

Judging from this most recent pic, your blue rally strips are a little off-center.

Keep up the good work friend!

Re: 500 CID swap: Building the '79 Cadillac that should have been

Well, we are getting down to business now - swapping over the 425 goodies.

Is there any modification necessary to use the 425 oil pan? I have read elsewhere that one has to pound out a few "dimples" to clear the 500's longer stroke.

No mods to the pan needed to clear the rods/bolts. I used a pan from a 425. What are you doing with the 425 heads?

Re: 500 CID swap: Building the '79 Cadillac that should have been

    Thanks man.

The 425 heads are staying put for now. I'm planning on mothballing everything for a possible swap into a 368 Eldo or Seville.

The 500 is starting to take shape.
