Are deposits common on throttle bores and plates? I know that it is a little bit complicated because of coolant involved, but do you clean the throttle body regularly anyway? Thanks.

Re: Throttle Body 95FWB

yes common to get that gunky buildup on the throttle blades/bores
just dont use gumout to clean it, although it works it can mess up the o2 sensors, there is a product out there thats made for that purpose (sensor safe)
cant remember the name but it should be on the shelf at any decent
parts store, spray it and wipe it out with a rag, is the method I use
very easy to do.......

Thanks for the reply. You probably mean o2 sensor-safe carb cleaner. Any learning procedure after cleaning (like disconnecting the battery for a minute)? Or just drive for a while and let the PCM learn new (clean) throttle condition?

Yep, still need one. Please check out the condition but do not remove yet. The dealer I've bough the car from may have one for me too. I am waiting for a response from him. He insists he was not aware of the issue.

Re: Throttle Body 95FWB

I put in a Ford 2.9L PCV filter in my LT1, haven't had a single deposit on my TB blades since.

Basically get the PCV filter that I list here. In the pass side valve cover where the hose goes into the valve cover, remove the elbow and insert the PCV filter, then cut down the hose to the TB so it will fit in the PCV filter.

Works very well. I was cleaning my TB every 6 months or so like you are supposed (GM says to clean almost every car's TB, few do.... on almost every car, at least around every 30K miles I think is spec), and since I have not NEEDED to clean it. The nice thing is it looks OEM.

I cleaned mine with a rag and TB cleaner. Have someone lock throttle open or block it open somehow.

I had my coolant to TB blocked at the time, so removing TB was very easy. Those lines are a bugger....
