    Re: The official Whitewall thread

Has anyone used them? My car sits mostly in south Florida under a car cover, and is driven maybe 1500 miles a year. Will they hold up under the heat? If anyone has experience with both tires, would they recommend those or the Hancock?

I went over to my local Town Fare Tires store this morning. They had several different selections for Whitewal tires. I went for the Hankook 235 75R15s. One inch whitewall. I think they'll look better than the wide whites on the 68 Eldo now. They are going on tomorrow morning.

It was a rainy ride to & from the tire store. Here are the Hankook P235 75 R15s.

Yes, I know it's a FWD car in the RWD forum. But there is NO chat in the Edo-Seville forum other than new car chat. You guys with the old iron are having all the fun over here.

Great tires on a great car! I donīt mind this is not the proper section. Itīs an old caddy and one of the best and last designs of Bill Mitchell (or at least thatīs what I read).

P.S.: Now I know which model my 69 SDV wrong exterior mirror comes from.

Wrong mirror? Oh! thats right. The Eldos mirror looks the same, but I believe the base is different as the door skins are different. Is it a left or right side mirror?

Itīs a left side. I guess the only thing that changes from an Eldo to a RWD is just the base. Probably my caddy lost its mirror at some point of its life and this is the closest to original one they could find here -before the Ebay era-. You can see it in this picture (click on it to see a bigger pic):

By the way, here you can see my 205/75 R 15 Maxxis whitewalls, rear tires (just installed). I'd prefer 235/75 but the car already had a new pair of 205/75.

You can stay here with that FWD sled anytime. I would actually like the older Eldos to be part of this section...

Have you seen the Motor Trend Classic issue with the feature on your car?

I have a couple of soft cover books that are all reprints of Cadillac road tests from the sixties. There are a few on this generation Eldorados. A few called "King of the Hill" against the Lincoln Mark III. I guess the Eldos were a big hit when the new design debuted in 67. Dealers couldn't keep them in stock. People ordering them over the phone and paying over sticker price. Celebrities clamouring to buy them too. Elvis had a gold 68 Eldorado with a black top. One day it wouldn't start so he shot it in the right front fender. This car is still around with Elvis paperwork and it still has the bullet hole! LOL

I agree Jay. the old eldorados (and even the 70's sevilles) have alot more in common with our rwd cars than the newer fwd versions of those cars.

    Re: The official Whitewall thread

Can anyone comment on the Runway Enduro tires? I am replacing the tires on my 93 Fleetwood this week, and based on the photos, I like the look of the Enduros. Several people have said they like the Hancock tires from Pep Boys, but I want that slightly wider (1.5/8) whitewall. To my knowledge no one has commented on the ride/quality of those tires. Anyone?? Thanks.

I agree that the Seville/Eldo forum is lacking in the "old iron" department. THAT is a beautiful car, in a beautiful color. By all means, post some pictures of it in the FWD forums.
