Brougham Tail Light Lens Repair

Remove this ad
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck repairing the Brougham/RWD tail light lenses. Mine are old, and the tabs are breaking off the ends, which prohibit me from attaching the chrome bezel around the perimeter of the lens. Has anyone repaired these, and if so, was it epoxy, glue, or was there some kind of steel sleeve?

I would probably go to the store and find the best glue, probably super glue, and go from there. If it works, I could only imagine its temporary. Especially in the winter

Re: Brougham Tail Light Lens Repair

I don't recommend super glue for anything. Get some Marine Epoxy, it's meant to get wet.

I rebuilt the entire front driver's side door panel of my dad's Mazda 929 with factory clips, a tube of Loctite Marine Epoxy, and a pair of chopsticks. It's been on there for over a year.

It's not that expensive either, like $5.50 at your local hardware store.

Just replace the part. There are tons of them out there... it is the same from 80-89.

Re: Brougham Tail Light Lens Repair

Used to spread the epoxy so it didn't get on my fingers. Chinese take out is handy sometimes.

Re: Brougham Tail Light Lens Repair

I fixed my 80 cdv. once, it sounds the same as your problem,I cut a small piece of hard wood into a rectangle shape,I then screwed the wood to the trim piece,(leaving just enough room to put it in place in the housing) then spin the wood piece so it's at right angles to the housing, then pull out on it so the wood will not spin when tightening the screw. hope this is what your after.
