ACDelco Conventional or ACDelco RAPIDFIRE Platinum Spark Plugs?

Remove this ad
Hey all,

I'm looking to replace my bosch spark plugs out of my 86 FWB 5.0 liter with ACDelco spark plugs.

I'm stuck on two options available for my engine:
ACDelco Conventional Spark Plugs
or
ACDelco RAPIDFIRE Performance Platinum Spark Plugs

Anyone have any suggestions?..I also have Bosch spark plug wire set, should I replace those too with ACDelco, or would those work fine with ACDelco spark plugs?

You don't need anything performance with a Rocket 307. The OEM plugs are AC Delco conventional #41-630, gapped to .60. And I would replace the wires; I'm not sure if Bosch and AC Delco play nice together, and besides, you should always replace the wires with the plugs.

Unless you've loaded it up with performance parts there's not much point in using performance spark plugs. If the wires are still good reuse them.

The conventional plugs are good for a couple years and the rapid fires are supposed to be good for 100,000 miles or more. You get what you pay for; no performance difference though.

If you leave plugs in the heads for 100,000 miles then they will never come out. GM is running into problems with that with '90's, 100,000 mile no need to service cars; the plugs get rust-welded to the heads and removing them ruins the heads.
