| Hi, I have a simple question for someone with a manual Hello, first, this forum seems like the best one on the internet, so keep it up guys!! Secondly: I usually just "browse" the forum without posting, because most of my questions have already been answered. However, as of last week my GEN light comes on when I try to use more than one accessory pretty much. Example: I will have the heat on and then try to open the window or lock the doors. It will work, but the GEN light comes on and everything gets really dim for that couple of seconds.
I tried searching for "voltage regulator" but couldn't find any posts for that. I also noticed there was a post a few down about alternators, but one thing that was not mentioned there was the location of the voltage regulator. I believe I have a stock 63 amp alternator, most likely at least 20 years old. I do not have any manuals for my 1978 Deville, no Chilton's, no service manual, no nothing and I was wondering if the voltage regulator was located inside the alternator, or somewhere outside. I already replaced the strap that goes from the negative battery cable to the frame and greased it up. I also looked at all other wires, making sure they are good and tight. I have a good feeling it is the alternator, but if someone could tell me where the regulator is I would appreciate it greatly.
Thank You |
