Fuel injection vs Carburetor question

Greetings fellow caddy fans, is there any kind of consensus among fans on the effectiveness of the mid 70's fleetwood's fuel injection system?

The reason I ask is that it seems a I may find myself in a situation where I can choose to buy either a1976 fleetwood with 68,000 miles and fuel injection or a '76 fleetwood with 45,000 miles and no fuel injection (both from the same seller) interestingly the seller has the same price for each car. The interior of each looks fine and the photos show no obvious issues. So my question is assuming all other things are equal, is it better to get a fuel injected one with higher mileage or a carburetor model with significantly lower mileage?
Surely even if the fuel injection system was primitive and in its infancy then on these cars it would have to better than a carburetor right?

I believe the fuel injection system produced slightly more power, but how reliable was it? I too would be interested as I have a complete fuel injection system and am considering installing it on my 75 Fleetwood, no mean task considering how much has to changed or added.

It's nice when they already run when you buy it. The fuel injection worked very nice when they work correctly. I think parts for them are getting harder to find now. If you can test drive it and the fuel injection works perfect then it shouldn't be a problem. The carb is still simpler though.

If it was me I'd take the injected one, they run a bit smoother, with more power and are less prone to issues I would say. Not very complicated or hard to fix even though they are less simple than a carb.

My "76" had injection and it was nothing but a nightmare, when it ran it ran good and when it didn't it looked good parked, lol.
Sold that FI "76" and bought this badass "75" carb'd Coupe.
Carb is much more reliable comapared to the old experimental FI of the 70's

For me? Fuel Injection, but I would adapt a new ECM/PCM on it and make it port EFI with moden computer controls. Forget the stock stuff... It IS hard to beat a well tuned Q-Jet. Really it is....

But if originality is key, then Carb and forget the FI setup, cause you'll probably end up spending a lot of $$ on junkyard/used parts to make it work for a while and the carb will just keep running and running and running.... And you'll later probably end up concerting to a carb anyway and just have a non original car....

I have an original 76 500 Carb (rebuilt) laying around I used on my 455 somewhere....

I've seen and heard horror stories of these old FI systems. The late-70s and 80's systems weren't perfected yet, and some were hazardous. For instance, with the fuel under pressure in those lines, I have seem cars blow up (mushroom cloud and everything) where nothing would have happened with a carb.
