In dash DVD player in a 93-96 Fleetwood !

DVD IN THE FLEETWOOD !

Well it only took a year and 2 months but I finally got the DVD player installed.. It’s the Cheap Jensen unit but it works very well .. touch screen / will play about anything and fits nicely in the dash .. (( XM )) ready and comes with the interface to add external inputs like a Play Station 3 or a Nav system.

I like the handy pocket under the unit to keep the remote control in.

Not bad for $368.00 at Walmart

It looks nice but you know it blocks the A/C unit.So,you could try Kenwood's "big screen" models instead .I mean no flip down just like navi screen models .

Yep; but once you’ve set the temperature, being a auto climate control, you don’t really need to touch it again.. if you do it’s a simple touch of a button to close the screen, reset the temp. and reopen the screen. The Kenwood unit is very nice but you’ll never touch it for close to the price of this unit.

I like that set up, but I'd much rather have the built in touch screen monitor, not flip up. Is there is there any way to get those in our cars? I understand we only have 1.5 din and usually need a 2 din for that stuff...

I don't know where some people keep seeing this...but all of these Fleetwoods are a DOUBLE (or 2) din. So any typical full-screen fits right in there perfectly, and many have done it.

Curious...why or how did you think it was a 1.5 din? Even without understanding that, just looking at it is pretty self explanatory that it's as large as head units get

Every big box audio place (best buy, etc.) i go to just to check out pricing say that double din video players will not fit because we have a 1.5 din, whatever that means. I've even researched online a little and have found other people run into the same issue. I haven't looked at it any closer, as I'm not in the market for that right now. But it's great to know I can do it. Thanks for letting me know!

Of dear...DON'T listen to or even go near any kind of chain store like that, in regards to the audio in this car. Number one, next to none know anything about how they're set up and the harness needed, and number two, they know nothing of the size...when it's very clear just looking at the dash what it is.

Making this kind of install is actually not hard, and there are both dash kits and the right harness (a very long one) for the car. The harness you can and will use, for '93-95 cars is the Metra 70-1856 and one dash kit is the Metra 99-2003.

It's not a hard job, but regardless of what a few other places mention (I know of posts elsewhere, etc. a lot because of people "learning" from bad audio stores) about the din size, etc., it's a double/2 din space as stock.
