1984 Fleetwood Disturbing noise

Got a grinding noise coming from the component at botton of 4100 engine that is connected to the inside drive belt. It is not the alternator, PS pump, water pump or a/c compressor. Any ideas?

is it under the alternator. Its probably the air pump. The thing is you can't bypass it you need the air pump to drive the alternator. The rear bolt is a bit of a pain to get to. You gotta get the alternator out of the way.

It is under the alternator and driven by a drive belt. Thanks allot for the info.

Hey this is for fastwood, i dont' know if they would fit, but cragar wheels for that coupe would be sick. The ones that guys put on older chevy muscle cars

I concur with fastwood, that is the air pump. My 83 DeVille made the same noise, it thought it was the end. Its a pain in the butt job to replace, my mechanic charged me a fortune for labor.
