And they say it has a stock 472, so it must be a '74 (I think). Weren't the '75 and '76 models 500cui only? Still bad MPGs...lol |

Awesome car though, I wouldn't mind owning a bit of history like that. I wonder why the grille is built out so far though... |

That bulge was probably some last minute extension implemented for the sole purpose of beating a world record. |

What do you consider good for the 500? I hear 12/8 is about average. And did the FWD affect the gas milage? I hear RWD is better.
I hear a lot of things...lol |

I hear a lot of things...lol | I'm not sure what mileage I got in my 75 Eldorado but I was comparing it to my other small block engine cars I had been driving in the 70s and 80s. The gas mileage really was bad when I bought the car, then I rebuilt the distributor, the timing advance counterweights and the pins that the weights fit on were more than 1/2 way worn through, they were not working at all. I had to replace the distributor shaft, counterweights and springs to get the distributor right. The distributor shaft had the pins made on to it and I had to replace the whole shaft to get good pins. After that I could cruise with my foot barely touching the gas pedal, before that I had to push the gas padel down further to go the same speed. I was surprised at how much a difference it made. The weights need to be greased with dielectric grease rarely, but they do get dry. I miss that 5300 pound green Elldo. I used to cruise with the song on Terminus Eldorado by Ted Nugent. If you have an Eldo you need to hear the song. LOL TexasCadillac | | Tags | 1994, cad, cads, find, fleetwood, found, make, post, rwd, sale, sedan, sitcky, touring | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
