Here is the grand daddy of all RWD Caddys... and its about 15 min away from me. http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/car/522558762.html
In the next year I hope to buy one, a 59 that is. Im almost finished up the restoration of my 57 Belair. My plan is after im done, i will be selling it, and buying either a 59 Coupe or if i get a DEAL a convert. WE have a two car garage, so i cant keep the 57 Chevy and the Cadillac. So the belair has to go first, its not the money i need from it, its the space.
Think its a good price for a ragtop needing restoration?? |

Whoa, that '59 is uber-rare because it's a 62 series (not the 63s/deville), but it has the the tri-carb setup that was only optional and standard on the Eldos. That 40k looks like a fair deal for a '59 in that condition and with that engine setup. A/C and cruise would make it the perfect deal.....but 35 would be better. First concern, though, where are you gonna get 40k to blow and another 50k+to restore. I'm not saying it a bad cause, but are you sure it's worth it? I mean you buy a restored one for about 3/4 the cost of restoring one yourself.
You and me are alike though; the '59 convertible is my absolute favorite car, and I WILL have one some day, but right now the the 80s/90s Cads will have to suffice until I come across my millions...lol... When I first got into Cads, I was only interested in the '59, '58, '56... all the way down to '53 (don't like the '57's fins). When I realized I wasn't gonna be able to find little old ladies offering smashing deals on them anymore, I went with ones I could afford. Here's the one I want, with no other changes than A/C, cruise and the tri-carb setup (the Eldo's are just to uber-rare for me to enjoy and don't have the lines I like for the '59)

I never saw pics of that custom interior trim he kept talking about until the auction... I am sure it was $$$ but just doesn't work for me. I wish him luck with the sale. It might be hard to sell it modded, he could get good $$$ if he brought it back to stock with that mileage and color.

The auction was ended by eBay due to "keyword spamming". I mistakenly made a comment about "NOT IMPALA SS".
As CLEARLY STATED in the listing, ALL factory parts- grille, intake, floor mats, steering wheel/airbag, EXCEPT the wheels/suspension are included. Therefore, the new owner may return most everything back close to stock with little effort. The added bonuses of the improved suspension set-up, losing all that dull grey exterior trim, as well as the lackluster woodgrain- are all added improvements I can't imagine anyone wanting to revert back to the "old". This car is hands down superior to what it was "stock". Then again, I respect the fact that there are some out there who want grandpa's car and nothing else. Thanks to everyone in advance for your interest and past compliments on this car. |
