Engine Coolant Hose Question

I was cleaning my engine compartment on my 1984 Coupe Deville and notice that there are two hoses that come out of the fill tank one is smaller and that goes into the radiator, the other is larger and that comes out but goes no where. What could it have originally gone to?

That hose is simply the overflow hose if the holding tank ever completely fills and overflows. Directs the coolant to the ground.

Don't forget the muffler bearings! Those always go before the blinker fluid gets low...
