It's just dieseling, which means the timing is out of adjustment. Poor thing probably needs a major tune up. Don't despair, you'll get through it. But, do pay your dad back before you do anything else. Stiffing the old man is just uncool.

Re: Might Have Found my Project....

Yeah definately, I'm repaying all my debts first before putting a dollar into the car. My dad is cool now after I gave him a heart-felt apology and he's being repaid as soon as I get it and also the car is now being stored at my house. For extra cash to kick back my way I'm selling the Pioneer head unit that the car has in it in favor of the factory radio (for authenticity) and selling an old Alto Sax I used to play in like 8th grade.......

Anyway as requested, here's some fairly new pictures.....

I actually feel better about it and have calmed down greatly, Stage fright was a perfect description for how I was feeling. Anyway I've already started planning how I'm gonna start fixing things. The rust spots I'm gonna spray with a clear spraypaint to coat them so they don't get worse. I was referred to a great junkyard in PA, and the rotor and pads for the frozen brake were price checked.

The passenger front brake after it heats up sticks and I noticed there's a trench dug in the rotor and the pad wore so it fits inside that trench. I'd bet that's why it locks up. Thoughts and input appreciated though......

Re: Might Have Found my Project....

Now that's the evil genius we know and love. Car doesn't look too bad, really, though it does need work. A very good project. BTW, those three switches to the right of the gear shift. I know one is the antenna switch and one is the rear window defroster. What's the third one do?

Re: Might Have Found my Project....

Awwwwww!
She's GORGEOUS!
Congratulations, Dope!
She's definitely worth all the $$ and effort to come.
Welcome to the Loyal Order of The Busted Knuckle and Horrid Oath.
The interior looks amazingly good and the rusty spots don't look all that bad, either.
Good Luck.

Re: Might Have Found my Project....

Damn that's nice, and I never thought I'd see a side by side pic where the '89 looked small in comparison!

The third switch is for the Astroroof. Yeah my Fleetwood never looked so small, in reality it's probably like 14-16 inches longer and maybe 7-12 inches wider. The car actually runs pretty well, I love the way it sounds, even my parents had some surprising things to say about it.

Dad: "Ya know I hate to admit it, but.... this is a really nice car...."
Mom: "This thing is too cool. Don't sell it....."

So it looks like this car will be apart of my DopeStarmada for a while. As for "She," this car feels like a guy to me, it has a masculine presence. Who knows, maybe it's haunted like my Fleetwood......

Also someone asked about build date, the door jamb says "03/76." Does anyone know if it was built in the Linden, NJ plant or the Detroit, MI plant?

Monday I begin my cleaning and spraying the rust. I'm also gonna throw a coat of wax on it too. Also what kinda gas would you recommend filling this monstrosity with, I have a quarter of a tank of regular in it right now.....
