| | | Re: Might Have Found my Project.... I have another question actually, what kind of hubcaps was this car supposed to have? This one has the wire hubcaps like the 77-84 cars had. I always thought the 70's cars had the discs, were the wires optional? |

| | | Re: Might Have Found my Project.... I think the wire discs as we know them came along as an option in 1975 or1976, when they were also offered for the Seville. Standard for the Devilles in 76 was a full chrome "sombrero" wheel cover, with a raised center section with a crest (no wreath) at the center. The valley between the central section and the outter rim is a series of ridges, originally painted flat black between them. Here's a pic. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/74-75...ayphotohosting
I don't care for the wire discs on the 71-76 C cars. They just look wrong somehow. I think they make the car look smaller, less substantial. Oddly, they have the opposite effect on the 77-92. But that's just my opinion.

| | | Re: Might Have Found my Project.... For me, the discs. And that's really saying something considering how much I usually like wire wheel covers. But to me, the Wires look good on the "smaller size" 77+ deVilles and Broughams...just doesn't fit with the truly massive ones.

On the wires the Devilles had only the crest, no wreath, the Sevilles and Fleetwoods had both the crest and the wreath on the wire wheel covers. The "Sombrero" wheel covers with just the crest were standard on the Devilles. Also for 1976 Cadillac offered a finned wheel cover with the blacked out center. This cover came standard on the De'Elgance package. However they could be ordered as a separate option. |

I like them the best of the three for my taste. The wire discs on these cars just look cheesy to me. Don't know why, they just don't seem to suit the car. |

The heat always blows from the floor vents, why is that? There's a green dot by the telltale lights that's always on and an orange one that turns on occasionally, what do those mean? | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
