I thought modern vins came out in 1980 or '81. Carfax will do anything '80-on.

Re: Might Have Found my Project....

DS - Call around to some locksmiths (let fingers walk the Yellow Pages) and get prices for what I mentioned above. I betcha its in the $50.00 range.
Ten or fifteen years Ago, it was $25.00 here in West Hartford, CT if that's any guide, and this is an expensive town.

$50, eh? Poor Dope'll have to sell at least 2 or 3 t-shirts to cover that. Life is so unfair!!!! 'Course, it *is* almost 10% of the purchase price....

Re: Might Have Found my Project....

Great engines. Car is easy to work on. Look for rust under vinyl top, near rear, and maybe at front edge of vinyl.

I am curious about 2 things: How will you fix the door panels and arm rests???

How tough is it to locate the fender extensions (those plastic rubberized pieces between metal fender and bumper or tail light????)

They used to cost about $150 each plus paint and special primer (20 years ago)???

Just curious.

Actually the bumper fillers are fine. No damage to those at all. Door panels/arm rests are getting replaced completely. I'd just have to track down a couple in light blue.....

Re: Might Have Found my Project....

gdwriter used www.dashtops.com to get door panels/ arm rests for his '91 Sedan deVille, they match perfectly and were fairly cheap IIRC.

Just looked and unfortunately nothing they have dates past 77. The only thing for a 76 they have is for a Seville. Looks like I'm on my own. I wonder if just the arm rest part is available and not the whole door panel. I would think they're two pieces, no?

USA Parts Supply used to stock brand new door panels/armrests for the '75-'76 Coupe deVille. They're white but dyable.

Re: Might Have Found my Project....

I was thinking about getting any old color and just dying the things. I still haven't lost faith in ebay and this junkyard near me that's like a dead Cadillac graveyard.....
