Ya know I've been comparing this car to my 89 Fleetwood and there's some observations I've made. The DeVille which is 13 years older and has things my Fleetwood never even offered as an option like window lock out, fuel economy lights, traction control, etc. What happened? Cadillac got lazy?

Also i was hoping someone could throw some carbed 500 engine specs at me. Specifically fluid capacities and other things......

The fuel economy lights were replaced with the fuel data center. As to the traction control, I think you're referring to the old TrackMaster system. GM dropped it for the simple reason that not enough people bought it. Same with the contemporary air bag system. Are the 500's specs not somewhere in it's technical forum?

The RWD Brougham was pretty much locked into oldthink after the FWD models came out.

I usually forget we have a 500 section. Honestly I feel my Fleetwood is all around a more comfy car, but maybe that's the d'Elegance talking......

I'm heading to the junkyard tomorrow hopefully. I've been meaning to go for a week now......

It doesn't help the 76's case that it's been beat to hell these past years. Were conditions equal, I'd wager you'd have a very hard time choosing the more comfortable.

I scored very minimally at the junkyard today, all I came home with were the opera light lens and the lock knobs. My failproof Cadillac graveyard only had a couple donor cars that fit what I needed for the DeVille and all of them were in really bad accidents or nearly stripped to frame. Parts for any 80's RWD are by contrast rediculously easy to find. Too bad my Fleetwood doesn't need anything besides a new AC compressor cable which I didn't find......

The DeVille however, although it was a small step, has made one step towards restored today. I still haven't gotten that door open though, a friend suggested the inside handle over the outside one......

By the way, nice link. Does anyone know exactly what color my DeVille is? It's like a midnight blue and the paint appears to be a Firemist color.....
