Acid Rain damage on aluminum/chrome bumper?

Hey guys!

My Dad is an idiot and tried to clean up the aluminum/chrome with some spray bottle of stuff he had in the garage. Turns out there was acid in it from a previous application...prob removing barnacles from the boat!

So now I have acid damage on my chrome/aluminum bumper.

How can I remove this acidic damage?

Will Acid Rain Remover by Crystal View work?

the damage looks like streaks with almost a purplish tint to some parts of it...hard to describe but I think it would be similar to acid rain since that's also acid. duh.

Anyone know if these products work to restore bumpers to new-ish condition?

I've never seen anything quite like that before, if the product your dad used is indeed acid, it's probably eaten the chrome and may have damaged the nickel as well. You could either have the bumper re-chromed or start looking for a new one.

Does chrome polish help any? That's about all you can use on chrome. Maybe Never-dull (spelling?) would work.
