1969 Deville Trim

Hi All

I have a nice condition 69 Deville Convt.

Yesterday while landing after a cruise. I shut the door only to hear a loud metal clanging sound as the door metal trim strip fell to the ground, it's the one which runs the length of the car in the middle of the outside door metal.

Luckily the piece wasn't damaged ! Phew...

But it seems the clips that were holding it on have rusted badly and I can't seem to get it back on.

Does anyone know where I might get one of these clips new, or a universal replacement??

Any direction or info welcome.

Take some donuts to a small local body shop; they will throw a handful of clips at you. Larger shops are like Fort Knox; they will not give you the time of day.

Wondering what you finally did for clips. I have the same problem with my 1969, and I haven't been able to find the clips anywhere. Mine are made of plastic, and have become brittle with age.

Well,

I managed to reattach the piece and am hoping it doesn't come off again...

What a solution ...

Some other places said they would need a sample. Do not have the addresses anymore as my old laptop died.
or ebay lists fasteners but they may need to be filed down or something.
