Firewall color

Looking for information on what color your firewall is. Is it the color of the paint on your car? Or is it black regardless of what color paint the car is.

Re: Firewall color

Every car I've ever had showed the same color firewall as the rest of the car.

Re: Firewall color

Now I'm really curious.
Is the black firewall dull or shiny like sound-deadening?
And have you seen other Cadillacs of the same year/model like that with black firewalls?
My experience:
1948 Hudson, 1951 Olds 88, 1953 Studebaker (2), 1956 Studebaker (2), 1967 Plymouth Interceptor, 1962 Buick Special, 1960 Mercedes 220Sb, 1960 Corvair (2), 1962 Corvair, 1966 Ford Galaxie 500, 1967 Plymouth Fury II, 1969 Plymouth Fury II (2), 1974 Ford Gran Torino, 1979 Chrysler Cordoba, 1982 Dodge B250 Van/Wagon, 1995 FWB, 1999 Dodge Stratus.
All had/have body color firewalls.
You have a most unusual vehicle.

Re: Firewall color

Most of the firewall is taken up by the blower/AC assembly which is a blackish fibre glassish plastic cover. The rest is a semi-gloss black paint. Every other late 60s-early 70's Deville I've seen is the same. There could be other Caddies with black firewalls, I just never payed much attention to it really. I'll try to notice it more now.
