I can dig it. There's a local 350-powered Coupe Brougham with a Two-Tone paint job that's been for sale for like...three years. I've seen around 500 different photos of it by now. The one pictured above, I believe would have looked nicer without the plastic body moulding above the chrome. Or at least not on the sides. Kind of breaks up the black, methinks.

One day, if I ever pass it in traffic or whilst running an errand, I may just buy it.

That also happens to be the first picture of the thread, posted way back on 2007. Though there seems to be something missing...

I prefer it with the Duck. Adds class, style and just a hint of debonaire luxury.

While not really my Cadillac, I've realized I never posted photos of this (from months ago) when it was finished and all put together...except that one bolt on the water pump

Hoping to hear back from a friend in Tampa soon about Motor Mounts.

That thing looks good. Is that an aftermarket oil pan? I tried to get some motor mounts for you but the guy never emailed me back.

Beautiful! Love the valve covers, and the red and black theme.

It's cool Sam. No rush really. I am rather busy these days, to be honest (Hence why these photos are just getting up today, even though the engine has been that way for months)

The oil pan is actually one of the factory parts I never switched out. It's from a 368.

Well, I figured I like those colours, I have to have a black engine and since the distributor was red already and it matched, I figured I could go with the theme. I have a polished aluminium power steering pulley sitting around, if I really want to go all fancypants.

That engine looks sweet, and the custom valve cover are a nice touch, but I have to ask; why flat black and not Cadillac blue?

Re: Post a pic of your RWD Caddy!

My engine came black from the factory. Felt it would be nice to keep it this way. Besides the Lincoln had a blue engine (Still does, as it survived the carbombing) and the Pontiac's engine is blue, though a totally different shade. Wouldn't hurt to save ONE black engine.

I actually ADORE the Cadillac blue. Most likely, should I purchase another Cadillac one of these days that will be the colour of it's engine (Factory, in fact, since basically ever car they have made that I would buy has such a colour for it's engine enamel) but this one shall remain black. In fact, when I got the engine, it looked like this (Don't let it fool you, nothing is bolted on and is instead held on via gravity. Also, much of it is leaking in this photo)

Just sort of painted the intake manifold to match, since it was scary and I had to clean it. Chose to stick with those valve covers (though it came with two other sets, but I would have much rather had it include those motor mounts Sam mentioned) and painted them too. The air cleaner and distributor were both red, so I figured I could add a bit more red. Didn't paint the new water pump actually, as I liked it's colour.

Since any of these photos have been taken, the engine has acquired some factory exhaust manifolds, which were basically brand new.

I believe my favourite part about the above photo is the carburetor...It's just so horrible.

Get a drop base air cleaner...ugly carb problem solved.

When I got my engine, I despised the chrome valve covers. After installing the engine, adding the ceramic coated headers and aluminum intake, I don't think they look THAT bad (I'd still prefer black with cadillac in cursive on them)- and have an extra set of valve covers that came with my distributor that I plan to do just that to.

I have a drop-base. It's the only way the engine would ever fit in the car without a hood scoop.

(BTW, Sam, could you measure the distance between the mounting plane of the intake, where the carb connects to the top of the air cleaner? I want to make sure that the Quadrajet will fit, as it is a different design than your Holley)

My solution to the carb was to strip it down to clean metal and rebuild. It worked out too, because I ended up with a complete spare carb from a '69, which I got to gift to Bone Collector, since he needed it. Now it is shiny and properly functional. I have a photo of it when it was mostly cleaned up, but Photobucket is being stupid, so...I think it's on The Face Books though.
