^I was never really a fan of those tail fins, when they were on the Eldorado Seville; I like the rounded uplifts that are on the Fleetwood and 62. But seeing them on a four door, they look more natural, and I'm wondering why Cadillac didn't use them in '56 as a natural progression to the '57 body.

Beeaauutiifuul ride!!!!! I love the combination of the old front end and the new (for '56) rear end. I love that missile bumper guards and tail lenses.... An authentic rolling sculpture. That caddy really seems to be in a magnificent shape. Congrats, man!!

Thanks! The taillight lenses actually come from a '59 Cadillac. I'm planning to drive to Las Vegas with the '56 (along with some buddies with their vintage rides) next April for an event over there.

Good adaptation... For sure driving a '56 caddy from Canada to Las Vegas with more friends in their classic cars seems the perfect holidays.

Yeah, looking forward to the trip! The other cars driving down will be two radically customized 1951 Hudsons and a '29 Model A Hot Rod.

I always thought those holes in the bumper under the taillights were for the exhaust?

Yes they are originally for the exhaust. When I bought the car, the ports were blocked off for some strange reason. So I removed the plates. But I didn't get around to hooking up the exhaust there yet.

Those "missile guards" were nicknamed "Dagmars", based on a volumptuous actress from the era.

Good nick for that bumper style. I wish we could nickname "Pamelas" nowadays bumpers, but nothing could be further from the truth

I was once at a Car Show with Matt and Sting and It was then I realized and came to terms with the fact that I am an old man.

Matt made a comment about the bumper exhaust in a Fleetwood, presuming it was a custom mod and I was like "Really? Am I that old?"

But then Sting made a similar comment about an illuminated Pontiac hood ornament and I realized I must be.
