    I had the shaft from mine shortened a local shop did it for 50 bucks with new u joints and balanced. But I have debated going back to the original tranny which would mean I don't need the adapter plate for the tranny housing. Nothing some black paint can t fix. Or I will probably just end up pulling the bulb. Ya the computer is all confused.

    I see those tachs all the time at the store, the ones that are the size of a steering wheel. I havent seen one hooked up in real life but I just wonder who the hell would buy something like that. Big enough to get pulled over for obstructed view.

    How does your oil pressure seem when its cold and warm? I saw 50psi in the video but thought it seems a little high. Did you use Zinc additive during break in?

    To keep the thread on topic, here's my latest pics in front of the house

    I like the effect those tires give off kind of a hot rod ish look. I didn't add zinc can I still do it the motor has ran for maybe a total of 30 min. Which wire is it that I need to run to ground. There is one under the Hood a black one and seems to arch everytime kit hits the block.

    not sure what black wire you're talking about under the hood (theres a few of them lol)
    the wire you need to run to ground is from the climate control unit (it grounds itself through the engine's computer) I'd have to look in my FSM to see which wire it is.
    once you ground the climate control unit, you can disconnect the computer (thats the only function it still has at this point).

    @csbuckn,
    I have seen 2 of those tachs in real life (odd considering every parts store in town sells them). one on an automatic trans 86 el camino with a plain 305 under the hood, and the other on a hillbillys chevy mud truck from the 80's. both look so out of place and gaudy. you have a tach with about a 6 or 8 inch diameter with a massive yellow shift light sitting up from a hole hacked (and I do mean hacked) in the dash top.
    I'm not sure if you can even still buy a normal sized tach. all I see are these massive "racecar" tachs.

    Those rims look pretty good on that body-style. And it looks a lot better than it would have if you painted the body trim black.

    You should put some zinc in asap, what oil did you use for break in? Break in should be 20 min at 2k rpm. If the black wire is coming from the passanger side firewall, its "probably" the ecm ground and might be needed for heater controls, I bolted mine to an intake bolt. If its a short wire bolted to the firewall, it goes to the block also and will help with starting the car when its warm.

    Thanks Sven, the look has kinda grown on me. Don't know if I'd go to a chrome rim now.
