Floridian weather is just odd. Even so, about half of the female population ages 12-25 are wearing snow boots, because we will CLEARLY have five feet of snow over night.

Yeah Craig, clear skies are terribly over rated. Clear skies are only cool at night, and even in Florida that doesn't matter much, because there is too much artificial lighting going on anyhow.

Excellence. Not normally fond of that body style or of white cars...but that is glorious. It also looks like you take extremely good car of her.

Re: Post a pic of your RWD Caddy!

    Hello guys,

finally my endless wait was over. Last december 29 I was taking home my 69 Sedan deVille, once all paperwork was over, as the car documents were missing, so the owner had to register the car from zero in the Highway Department.

It was a disturbing trip. Engine and tranny went well, but wipers and A/C & heating did not work and I had to drive in a foggy night. In addition, front wheels trembled tremendously when the car passed through a slight pothole from 50 to 60 Km/h and I had to stop, slow down to 30 km/h and try again to reach 70 km/h or more (steering very loose too). Then there was no shake. I drove 340 kms home and in the second half of the trip the speed was 90-100 km/h. Rex (this is gonna be his name) arrived home finally by his own like a champion but hell need a lot of care as he has suffered a careless maintenance for more than 10 years. Needs new upholstery, some badges, cleaning some rust from chrome and tranny leaks a good deal of oil but the price was good and I will repair these weak points gradually.

This is the picture of a stop in the journey:

P.D. Sorry for the thumbnail. The server did not give me the full size option

A week ago, the last section of the exhaust was cut off by rust and the muffler kept hanging from its hook, near the rear bumper separate from the rest of the line Exhaust system needs some attention too.
    talismandave and talismandave like this.

Sorry. Im afraid there is some kind of incompatibility between the system of the forum and the server one.

Lets see if Im luckier now:

Last tuesday we started by changing oil (3 years without change), oil filter, gasoline filter, distributor cap, sparks, and spark wires. We could not change points as the ones I bought were defective. Ive not been able to wash it because its raining almost everyday, and first, Ill have to fix muffler.

Hmmm, I think I remember taking this trip when I brought my 69 FWB back to CA from AZ. The best thing about these cars is that they're nearly indestructible. Even horribly lax maintanence will not kill them. Enjoy the adventure of fixing Rex up (though I'd ditch the point for HEI if I were you).

Im impressed that this caddy could run 340 Kms. without any problem having suffered such poor maintenance. When I bought my '73 dodge the great problem in the trip home was heating. This cadillac showed no sign of engine problem.

I hope your steering were not shaking like mine in your trip home . Next repair I want to make is changing tie rod ends, idler arm and center link and new front tires. Of course I will enjoy this process as I did with my other classic car. Im afraid this is an addiction and Im frightened of what may happen when everything is Ok with Rex but this will probably take some years. Ill consider changing ignition in the future. For sure it will improve performance and consumption. I upgraded my other classic car to electronic ignition and the results were outstanding.

Today I have fixed exhaust -by the moment- and adjusted distributor. The mess with defective points made us set it in a hurry and idle was rough.

I hope your 69 FWB is making progress in its body cure
