About to buy a timing belt, also need some gaskets was hoping for part number help.

    Hey guys,

I am buying this belt off ebay in a bit and I was hoping you guys could let me know if that is infact the correct part.

Also I was told I needed the water pump too which I also found for 50 bucks here.

Would these be okay to buy? What about a Cam Tool Kit? Can I rent one?

    VIN:1G6DM57N230111158

    Thanks guys

unless you're sure that you need the pulleys you can just get the belt
that kit is correct for your car and it's a good price, but just the belt would be a lot cheaper
the water pump is also a good price (although it's not the OEM acdelco part which is more expensive it will work just fine)

i'm not sure about the tool kit (i'm not too familiar with the service/labor side of things)

if you need part numbers for the timing belt or the oem water pump just let me know

You don't think the pulleys could use a swap after 100K miles?

The cam shaft toolkit comes with some plastic and metal locks that slide into the gears of everything so nothing moves when you pull the belt off.
    This thing: http://www2.otctools.com/otctools.co...cts/537764.pdf

I just called the guy that is offering to do it for me and he said he didnt even need that so... hope he knows his stuff.

Also gaskets, what gaskets would I need besides the plenum and water pump gaskets?
    Just this?

no necessarily needed ... the only reasons not to would be money/price or fear of messing something up doing the work
it's up to you, i'm not saying don't do it... just that they pulleys probably don't need to be done

yeah a good mech will have their own ways to lock the cam ... or already have that tool

as for gaskets ... that part in the ebay link doesn't really look familiar... it kind of looks like the oil pump gasket actually

it also may be something that's not normally removed and GM doesn't sell it

but i have a feeling that it's not needed even if it does fit your car
