St. Claire Cadillac has diagnosed my '99 STS's rough idle, stumbling acceleration and backfiring on the plugs and wires. Quite comically, they have quoted me $1,000 for the replacement job. Yep, one with three zeroes.
Getting at the rear bank of plugs looks hard but not *that* hard; I'm guessing that any ASE-certified mechanic with access to a shop manual could do the job for a fraction of the price.
Anybody know a good independent shop in the South Bay that you want to throw some business to?
I have always gone to Jeff at IQ autoworks but that was for my Acura. He is always busy and he seems to be trustworthy. I couldn't tell you much more, but if you are going to a shop dont say how much the dealership was going to charge you, or else they will just use that as a baseline I would assume.
