I recently purchased a BMW 3 Series Coupe thanks to Cadillac because there are no new Eldorado's to buy!! Eldorado has a legacy behind it (similar to Corvette, Thunderbird, Mustang), and how can they get rid of the symbol of an AMERICAN LUXURY CAR?!?!?!?!?!
The Eldorado needs to be brought back, it will have MANY anxious buyers awaiting its return! Even hearing the name E L D O R A D O brings the thought of luxury, freedom, and it is the true american luxury car. I understand that Cadillac is creating the CTS/STS to try and imitate a luxury sports car, but you cannot replace an Eldorado with a 4 door sedan!!!!
I couldn't afford a new 2002 Eldorado when I was 22, but when I finally can, you snatch them away (except used)!!! When you stopped production on the Eldorado in 2002, you created a hole in my heart that can't be fulfilled with a CTS, or even my new Beamer! Think about how many other luxury car manufacturers have Coupe's that are doing so well on the market when Cadillac is focusing on 4 door sedans.
Will you ever consider bringing back the true symbol of luxury, the Eldorado? Think about what you did to the Eldorado fans (new and old) on that sad 2002 year. Please, BRING THE ELDORADO BACK!!!!
Have you guys seen pics of the 2009 CTS-V ? It is a two door coupe and I am thinking what B.S. that they didn't give that the eldo name if they are going with a two door !
How is a Coupe CTC an Eldorado? Latest Eldorado was a 2 door version of an STS. In the 50's and 60's it was practically an ultralux version of a coupe deville and in '67-70 it was a Fleetwood class.
The closest they could get to an Eldorado on current platforms would be on a 2 door version of an STS. And I think most of the fans would like to see a unique comeback of the Eldorado though.
oh but they cant give it a real name its got to have a 3 letter designation so maybe it would be back to ETC, or perhaps to make it sound right the LDO or something (joking) i dont think they will bring it back until theres a big anniversary or something. not that they shouldn't of course. if they were to bring it back it would have to be really done right, or else id rather spend money restoring an older one. but perhaps picky guys like us aren't the market there after.
All I really want is a Cadillac vehicle (particularly a sedan) that has high-class like they used to (1996 STS) that has performance and luxury. It's called "high end."
If Cadillac would bring back the Eldorado we would buy another one in a heartbeat ( We had a 2000 ). Caddy execs..........are you listening? Your consumers are telling you what we want, listen to us.
The coupe market is beginning to come back around.
It's time to bring the Eldorado (ETC) back to the market.
Don't miss the boat on this one guys.
Cadillac needs to Lead the market, not react too late and miss the boat.
The XLR may have been intended to replace the Eldorado, yet the pricing and small size doomed it's potential to fill the niche where a well executed, reasonably priced American sized luxury coupe could have been a hit.
This is a concept published in a magazne some months ago. I recently found it on the internet, it is a drawing of a concept car that was seen in clay at the GM Design Studios. Apparently it is an uplevel Cadillac Coupe E8 or E12. The similarity to the Bentley design is unmistakable, as was the 100K price mentioned in the article. Willl it ever be built? But we can dream, can't we.

That looks most likely in the direction of a might-Eldorado!
Never will a CTS or STS coupe be an Eldorado, as the Eldorado, when it will be re-vived, should be the flagship of Cadillac. Therefore it will be a 2-Door DTS-based platform with V8 and V10 engine. Like the size of the BMW 6-series or Mercedes SLK.
BTW, if Cadillac is following, then who is leading exactly? It is you yourself who compare to other brands to find similarities, although all Cadillac models are distinctively different from the competition in many positive ways. At least in my eyes...
Would probably sell but not with that kind of price tag IMO. Would LOVE to see some "heritage" models come back to Cadillac's lineup. But unfortunately, a $100,000 Cadillac is like a $30,000+ Hyundai, most people just won't go for it. Perceptions about a marque impose price limits, and I don't think anybody outside GM's corporate offices sees Cadillac competing in the $100,000 market right now (or anytime soon!).
We need to consider the dollar situation, today the USA dollar is .15 of what it was in 1960. In 1960 dollars an item that would have cost $13500 now costs approximately (didn't use my work spreadsheet, just ball parking) $105,000. This is what inflation does, why do you think that $35,000 house is now selling for $550, 000, is it because one spent $10,000 on the bathroom, or 25,000 on the Kitchen?
By the way in case you didn't realize it Cadillac has been selling the 2 seat XLR V, it sells for about $106,000, and it doesn't have a backseat!
This is the que for everyone driving Cadillacs from a decade ago to complain. If you are honest though, the old Eldo has nothing on the new CTS coupe. The CTC is more powerful, better handling, comes equipped with a better interior made from better materials, and is actually competitive with other cars in it's class.
...I'm sorry, but they're not bringing the name back.
But there is a problem...Cadillac is in now "Art&Science" Era and all cars are designing with only ruler. But Eldorado was aesthetic car, 1950 to 2002, it wasnt changed. It is like a wine, I dont know you use this term for cars or not, but Eldorado was like Dream car. But modern Cadillac's are looking very rough and though. Evem 2002 Eldorado is looks much better than Mk1 CTS I think. MK2 is much better looking but Eldorado is better. In fact, Eldorado was the way more luxury and bigger than modern CTS. In 2002, It has got front massaging seats on upper equipment package. In 2008, yes Cadillac CTS has got 30 Gb Hdd, Head up display, but its because of year 2008... ( It is about technology, but using massaging seats on a car cost higher than those ) .
Xlr and XLR-V series are good. But XLR is designed to be a roadster and its smaller than Eldorado, and very very small. It is like European car with its 4.4 meter length. I think the Eldorado's only problem was its FWD platform, not another thing. ( Except Northstar engine, I heard it has not got modify capabilities , 300 hp is not so much for that kind of a car I think , and also It has got low torque for 32 valve 4.6 . Bmw's 286 Hp 4.4 liter engine can produce 440 nm.
The fact of the matter is GM screwed up getting rid of the Eldorado and building there high priced SUV's. BRING BACK THE ELDORADO it is an American icn for what a 2 door coupe should look like and drive.
