I had to pay $199 out of my pocket for the NAV update disc for my '06 STS that I was supposed to get for free and was surprised and pleased to find map data for Alaska on the two disc set. That's the good news. The bad news is that there is no index for the Alaska data so you can't enter a way point or destination with the keypad. The only way you can access Alaska data is to scroll the map. If you don't know how to get to where you want to go you're SOL. It's better than nothing and at least you can follow the progress of your trip on the map.

Update!! Now that I've accumulated a list of prior destinations the unit has become very convenient to use. It would be nice to have an index and some POI data but it's very usable the way it is.

Other luxury line vehicles include 2 or 3 disc updates on their vehicle navs. Do better GM.
