My coolant level is low also. how often is it recommended to completely change (drain & fill) the cooling system? Ive had the same coolant for 2 years now. Should I drain & fill? Is it safe to flush the system?

Your '99 has orange Dex-Cool so once every 5 years. 2 years for green coolant.

dont forget to add the tablets to the dex cool....and smash them up before you put them in

No need to crush them in a Northstar. Just pop them in the radiator hose whole. DO NOT put them in the surge tank.

When I replaced my Northstar, I upgraded my oil cooler to about twice the size ( same brand - same bolt install) .....Totally dry, I put in 10 quarts oil in the engine.
