well a couple of you know about my cracked block and me rebuilding another block the rust in the bore etc.. well I finally started putting the block together day by day so heres a couple of pics of my progress

pistion ring thread
http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ion-rings.html (reuse pistion rings?)

cracked block thread
http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ked-block.html (cracked block)

I inserted a pistion in the bore with the rust after I cleaned the bore and honed it with the berry hone it moves smoothley that is the only bore I honed. Im hopeing not to loose more than 10 psi even though the FSM says 140-170 psi is the acceptable range now my only fear is it not starting after I get it back together but i ill take my time getting it back together and hopfully it will run with out problems.

Re: pics of the progress

Your cylinder rust is a non-factor. You're going to have to find something else to worry about. It's minimal. Good luck!

Re: pics of the progress

In second and last pics, sure is easy to see the crank position sensor reluctor wheel......Don't sweat the small rust patch....build it clean, use cam assembly lube, figure a way to pressurize the oil system just before startup, drive it like you stole it.........Do you know anything about porting and polishing? Now would be a good time to clean up the insides of the headers and crossover pipe.........DON'T MESS WITH THE HEADS !!!!!
