| | | Re: 2 N* Questions - Coolent and Tranny Dipstick? The BarsLeak "golden seal" powder is the same stuff, yes. And BarsLeaks also markets the sealant in the same pellet form as the GM coolant supplement.
Just be sure to put the sealant directly in the radiator hose. Do not be tempted to just dump it into the surge tank. |

| | | Re: 2 N* Questions - Coolent and Tranny Dipstick? I have a 2000 Deville DHS and I was told by the mechanics that there is no dipstick for the tranny since it is a sealed system. The only access to the cooling system is the cap on the overflow tank and there have been problems with cap leaks according to the Cadillac serve bulletins. Loss of coolant is not normal and may be a sign of the problems that many of have had with head gasket leaks. See all the forum entries regarding overheating and head gaskets. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it's best to have it checked now before the problem causes constant overheating, loss of coolant and then complete engine shutdowns. |

I am no Cadillac service specialist, but there seems to be a dip stick for the trany here. Maybe you need to frequent a different service department.

Perhaps your head gaskets were not bad after all. |

| | | Re: 2 N* Questions - Coolent and Tranny Dipstick? My wife's 2002 Explorer has a "sealed transmission" and thus no dipstick. Dumbest thing I have ever seen. I realized right away where the dipstick was...behind a desk in Detriot designing Ford transmissions! |

| | | Re: 2 N* Questions - Coolent and Tranny Dipstick? The CTS has a sealed transmission and is assembled in a cleanroom. CTS transmission problems are just about unheard of. The idea of reducing the introduction of dirt into the transmission is a good one if the transmission is bulletproof to start with. |

$3000 bill to remove and overhaul transmission because you can't add fluid... |
