| | | Spark Plug Wire Placement I've seen some pictures of northstars that show the plugs being tucked around the side or a cover for them.
or this one:
this one might indicate when they switched to Coil on plug? I don't see the plug in place on the rear of the engine:
Was wondering if this was only on certain model years of from pre-production ideas etc etc
This one from the EVOQ concept car:
just curious

2000+ coil-on-plug, no plug wires.
93-94, plug wires were routed through a plastic sheath
Another 2000+
looks similar to the 4.4L northstar with the MP120 supercharger, coil-on-plug like 2000's. |

| | | Re: Spark Plug Wire Placement thanks for info, the above is the concept engine from the EVOQ, its a 4.2L northstar pumping out 400/400 I think. Its basically one of the stepping stones to what the STS-V and XLR-V's 4.4L is. My guess was "kinda" right for them all |

| | | Re: Spark Plug Wire Placement gotta say i like the "outside" routing of those wires. being new to the NorthStar, running ingnition under that cover just doesn't seem right, tho it does seem to work okay. most important is the correct OEM wire set... |

| | | Re: Spark Plug Wire Placement Not sure what the question is here really.
Maybe I am too tired.
The new ones have coil assemblies that bolt on each cam cover, no wires, just a "boot".
The original northstar had a longer wire set for the front bank and a special housing to carry the wires.
The next generation had a wire set that ran under the main engine cover with little grooves for each even wire in the top of the intake.
The newest one has coil housings with no wires.
I have had a couple 4.4s in but never paid attention to what they use. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
