PCM programming question

I was seeing discussed in the Seville/Eldo forum that if you take the VIN from a Z rated car that the dealer will re-flash the PCM for you to overcome the speed limiter.

Does anyone have a Z rated DTS I can use the VIN from

Re: PCM programming question

I wouldnt want to touch that with a 10 ft pole if I was a GM dealer.
Lawyers would come out of woodwork if that was known.
If you do find one please dont advertise who it is.

Re: PCM programming question

It won't work. The dealer was an idiot - it was my thread. Basically, GM won't give the dealers the codes to do it. GM decided the "z-rated" models were a bad idea after all and they haven't looked back yet.

Good News - I think the newer (beyond OBD II) systems are hackable, ie.- use a power programmer but don't look to GM.

Re: PCM programming question

OK I have a good one. I was looking at my door sticker today and guess what. There is NO tire information at all let alone a speed rating. What does that mean. All that's on the sticker is the GVW stuff and the VIN.

Re: PCM programming question

No stickers on any other door. Should this be a new thread?

Re: PCM programming question

Never mind, I found it, very very low on the rear drivers door.
