| Head Gasket Repair - DIY? I have a 96 Eldo, just diagnosed with bad head gasket. Code PC0300 (misfire) pointed to cyl #7, plug was fouled with coolant (per shop). Shop says the GM "book" calls for an 18 hour pull-engine repair (not counting complications). Head gaskets were replaced and engine mostly rebuilt at 60K miles (now 110K) by a Cad dealer (under warranty). That time, I had overheating and lots of symptoms. Now, only the code and rough running, no overheating, and minimal coolant loss. Can I fix this without pulling the engine? I've read the threads, and removing the engine seems a foregone conclusion, but I don't have the facilities to do that. Is on-car repair doable? Thanks |
