Compass reads incorrect sometimes?

Wondering if any of you have a similar problem.

my compass on my rear view mirror sometimes reads just "C" , then once in a while it kicks into the normal SW, N, S, E mode. it seems to work then not work and just be on "C" im wondering if theres a setting thats incorrect, or its just on its last life ...

whats needed to fix this thing , im assuming its just a simple plug and play item i need to purchase from th dealer?

any info , thanks

Find an empty parking lot and make several slow, continuous 360 degree turns. Stay as far as possible from any ferrous metal structures.

What will that do? Is that a way to reset it or just to diagnose it or what?

Reset comes close. Or zero-out the confusion factor.

There are setup instructions in your owner's manual. Maybe re-setting it to the right area (there are several areas geographically) would help.

ok ill try that and see what happens, if nothing changes ill see what the dealer hasd to say about replacing the item, of course it will be expensive :/
