supercharger for the Northstar

is there anyafter markets companies that offer a supercharger for the NorthStar? will the existing Supercharger for the XLR fit? is there a kenny belle blower out there? or is there a Vortech out there that can be custom fitted for a Northstar.i have a 1994 Seville STS,and it's pretty stout, but i would like to make it even stouter.i also want to know if a set of Magna Flows sound great for the NorthStar.i don't want anything to sound too loud(Flowmaster). But something good and deep, but not too loud.right now,it runs well, with over 120,000 miles, and it eats its fair share of Lincolns all day long.the imports are beginning to be a pain.some people often will tell me to spray the NorthStar, but that's not what i want.any help will be appreciated.thanks.

Re: supercharger for the Northstar

Magnaflows sound awesome, I got a pair on my 95 ETC. The only options you have that are worth it for performance gains would be exhaust, nitrous, or the SC kit from XMS. About 2 years ago I think, a company called XMS developed a centrifugal supercharger kit for the FWD northstars, but they couldn't get the kit to work with OBDII for some reason, so only 93-95 cars could use the kit. I don't know if they still offer the kit, so you'll have to contact them and ask. Expect to pay about $4000 if they still offer it: http://www.x-m-s.com/

Re: supercharger for the Northstar

I love speed. But one question please.

Why would anyone want to put a S/C on an engine that's already stretching the head bolts to the max in stock form ?

Re: supercharger for the Northstar

I don't know their reputation but I do know they are about the only Northstar dedicated shops in the US...at least online that I have found but perhaps some members do know other places:

http://www.chrfab.com

would be a place to ask about performance upgrades.

BBob says the stresses from thermal cycling (start/run/shutdown) are many times greater than the actual stresses from cylinder pressure.

Mechtech Motorsports in CA does twin turbo AND superchargers for the northstar, they're built for sand buggy racing

Re: supercharger for the Northstar

THey are all using aftermarket stand alone ingition/fuel management systems like the Holly Commander. To do this kind of stuff while the engine is still running the stock PCM (or even still in the original car for that matter) is pretty much impossible, without having major driveability issues. That is unless you have an OBD1 car and have the capability to reprgram the PCM to adjust to such changes.

I hate sites that don't list prices. I emailed them for a price list to get an idea on just what to expect to pay for one of their engines. I won't get it, but I really want to know more about their TT Northstar engine.

And, I don't know for certain but I feel confident in saying that all the engines are ODB1.
